JACKSBORO,TN. (WLAF)- Lowell Murray is behind bars. Murray, who has an extensive incarceration history with more than 70 arrests, that includes some violent crimes, will spend most of 2022 in a jail cell.

Last week, the habitual criminal saw two of his cases resolved.

In criminal court, Murray pleaded guilty to assault and stalking. The charge of sexual battery was dismissed. This array of charges was filed in 2020 after Murray allegedly walked up to a woman on East Central Ave. and grabbed her in a sexual manner. When she fled, he followed her into a business on the same street. After leaving the store that day, he continued to come into her store making intimidating comments, according to a LaFollette Police report. Following the dismissal of the sexual battery count, Murray was sentenced to 11 months and 29 days for each of the other two counts. These will be served at 75 percent.

As these charges were pending, Murray accumulated additional crimes.

In Aug. 2021, La Follette Police Officers answered a disturbance call at an East Walden Street apartment just before 4am. When police arrived, they had to forcefully enter the apartment when no one answered the door.

A team of officers found the victim, a 48- year-old woman, injured, laying in the back bedroom.

A search of the home ended with Murray found hiding under tires in the basement, the report said.

According to the police report, Murray fought and resisted officers. Murray calmed down after getting a shot of pepper spray.

Officers learned that Murray had trespassed on the same home five months earlier. Last week, in general sessions court, Murray pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal trespassing, assault and resisting arrest. For these crimes, he will serve six months at 75 percent.

The sentences Murray received last week will be served consecutively. He was given credit for time served, which means Murray should be released from the county jail in August.

He was declared indigent so he does not face any court costs or fees. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED 03/08/2022- 6AM)
