LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Former La Follette Owl, Campbell Cougar and Carson-Newman Eagle Daniel Vanover passed away Tuesday at Knoxville.
Vanover was likely the tallest Cougar of all-time at 6-11. Hearing the sad news brought back a flood of memories, most really funny, of Daniel. He had quite the personality.
I had the good fortune of following Daniel’s basketball career from the front row broadcasting his middle school, high school and college games. We often sat together at pregame meals, and he would occasionally ride back to La Follette with me from Jefferson City.
He was literally the Lady Cougars biggest fan this season making most of their games. Vanover even attended games after injuring his foot.
Daniel Vanover was 46-years old. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 03/16/2022-6AM)
