CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – C3 project teaches students about growing food   A Campbell Culture Coalition project is teaching area fifth graders all about growing their own food.

Thanks to a grant from the Campbell Enhancement Fund of the East Tennessee Foundation – every fifth grade student in Campbell County received their very own grow packet this Spring.

Seeds, soil, and instructions were given to each student to take home. Campbell Culture Coalition (C3) Vice President Jennifer Hoffman and Executive Director Manuel Mesa also went to each school with a presentation and answered student questions about the project. The idea is to teach young people about growing their own plants, healthy living, and addressing Food Security in our area.

Gift cards to Food City have also been donated for students and their families. The Campbell Culture would also like to thank Eagle Tire Pros of Jacksboro and Food City in LaFollette for their support. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/01/2022-6AM-PHOTOS COURTESY OF C3)

  1. So thankful that this program has been introduced into our School System and that, finally, the children will be taught something that is very necessary I hope the children take a real interest in gardening.
