LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – It’s a nice, though very dry, start to our first full week of April. Temps climb to near 70 with more clouds than sun above to go along with breezes at times.

…INCREASED FIRE DANGER THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY EVENING…

A dry air mass is over Campbell County and the southern Appalachians today causing afternoon relative humidity values to drop into the 20s across much of east Tennessee, southwest Virginia, and Cherokee and Clay counties of North Carolina. In addition, winds will become south and southwest at 7 to 12 mph with higher gusts possible. This will result in increased potential for fire growth and spread.

Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities whether you may burn outdoors. If burning is allowed and necessary, use extreme caution as fires may get out of hand quickly under these conditions. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/04/2022-6AM)
