Surrounded by her devoted husband and loving daughters, Sue Crumley Byrd passed away on March 30, 2022. Sue was a loving and devoted wife and a nurturer of her children and grandchildren. She was a devout Christian, and her love for Jesus was unwavering.

Sue spent her final years in Royston, Georgia with Jim, her daughter, Jamie and son-in-law, Cliff Mize. Sue was lovingly and dutifully cared for at home by her family and the Amedisys Hospice team until her passing.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Mac Haynes Crumley, Sr. and Thelma Sharp Crumley; her older sister, Gail Peters; beloved younger sister, Alice Ray Crumley; father and mother-in-law, Elmer and Nora Byrd; and brother-in-law Conrad Troutman, Jr.

Sue is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, James “Jim” Elmer Byrd; daughters, Jamie Mize and spouse, of Royston, Georgia, Kelli Peak and spouse, of Church Hill, Tennessee, and Holly Byrd and spouse, of Decatur, Georgia; Mac Crumley, Jr. and spouse Betty of LaFollette, June Ann Perkins and spouse Mike of Corbin KY, six beloved grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sue Troutman of LaFollette; brother-in-law, Victor Byrd of Long Beach, California; along with many other nieces, nephews and other relations. Her family takes comfort knowing that she is free from any suffering and that they will see her again in Heaven.

The family will hold a private ceremony for Sue on Norris Lake in LaFollette, where Sue spent the best times of her life with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Sue’s name to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or any other Alzheimer’s or Dementia charity of choice.
