PIONEER, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – In a release to WLAF from Campbell County Director of Schools Jennifer Fields, Fields states “This morning at approximately 8:55, a student at Elk Valley Elementary School was taken into custody for bringing a loaded handgun to school.

The student was taken into custody by the School Resource Officer (SRO) and Campbell County Sheriff’s Department. The school immediately went into lockdown. Students, teachers, and staff are safe and the lockdown has been lifted.
