Hugh Ray Perry born on March 3, 1940, at Elizabethon, Tennessee, passed in his home at Jacksboro, Tennessee, on April 16, 2022. He was of the Methodist faith and loved to attend morning services at Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Knoxville to listen to the beautiful choir and piano music. He was preceded by his grandparents, Hugh and Myrtle Myers; mother, Aline Perry; sister, Mary Jo Massengill; aunt and uncle, Mary and Joe Ridenour.

Left to remember: His wife of 59 years, Phyllis Perry; daughter, Tisha Perry Maxwell; grandson, Christopher Issac Maxwell; granddaughter, Erica Kristen Maxwell; nephew, George Massengill; nieces, LaDonna Massengill-Booker, DeAnna Roberson and sister-in-law, Rosemary Marlowe.

A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Hugh was a fan of the Lady Vols Basketball and Softball Teams. He attended all home games and most of the away games. He was an avid reader and wants to thank the sweet and kind ladies at Caryville Library for keeping him supplied with books while he was ill.

A private graveside service will be held at Jacksboro Cemetery.

  1. So sorry to read the loss of Hugh Ray. I graduated Jacksboro High School 1959. Hugh Ray and Mary Jo were attending Jacksboro High at the same time as I. Mrs. Perry was one of my favorite teachers.
