Stephen Daniel Combs was born in Norton Virginia on February 2, 1949, to Daniel Combs and Peggy Louise Dotson. Graduating from high school in Whitesburg, Ky, Stephen attended the University of Rochester on scholarship where he graduated in chemical engineering and furthered his education with a Doctorate in Medical Dentistry from the University of Kentucky. He practiced dentistry in Whitesburg, Kentucky and Knoxville, Tennessee.

Being gifted in numerous disciplines, Stephen will be remembered as a person who used the talents gifted to him by God to help others.  Whether it be free dental work, carpentry, plumbing a house, electrical work, teaching in-depth classes on Bible history, or simply lending a helping- hand, He was a rare combination of intelligence, integrity and humility. Stephen loved people and loved sharing with others.

Stephen will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Renee Tolliver Combs, his sister Angela Messer, brothers, David Combs and James Combs, his father, Dan Combs, and stepmother Penny Ritter Combs.

A celebration of Stephen’s life will be held on April 30th at 2pm on the grounds of Hope and Stand Church in LaFollette. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Stephen’s name to Bridges to Recovery in Jacksboro, Tn (bridges2recovery4you@gmail) which is listed under amazonsmile or Samaritan’s Purse.
