JACKSBORO, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – Today, Campbell County Sheriff Robbie Goins joined other law enforcement leaders around the country to raise awareness about the growing fentanyl crisis. “We are actively fighting fentanyl right here in Campbell County” said Sheriff Robbie Goins.

Across our country, people are dying at alarming rates due to illegally made fentanyl – a dangerous synthetic opioid.

The drug is up to 50 times stronger than heroin, and 100 times stronger than morphine.  It is odorless, tasteless, and extremely potent.  It is often found in fake pills and disguised as Oxycontin, Percocet, Xanax, and Vicodin.  Drug dealers use the substance because of how cheap it is, ultimately increasing their profit margins at the risk of killing those using the drugs.

“Fentanyl kills more of the youth in our country than heroin, meth, cocaine, benzos, and prescription drugs combined, and I won’t stop fighting against it here in our community as your Sheriff,” said Goins.
