Campbell County Sheriff’s investigators describe the man arrested, 42-year- old Derick Byrge of 102 South 27th Street-La Follette, as a local drug dealer with a long criminal history.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Additional information was released on Monday afternoon about a drug raid WLAF first broke on Monday morning. Campbell County Sheriff’s investigators describe the man arrested, 42-year- old Derick Byrge of 102 South 27th Street-La Follette, as a local drug dealer with a long criminal history. Related story.

La Follette Police and Campbell County Sheriff’s Office worked together on Friday morning in the execution of a narcotics search warrant that resulted in one person being arrested.

The Campbell County Sheriff’s S.W.A.T. Team entered the large white frame home and found Byrge inside a bedroom where they were able to arrest him.  Once inside, officers discovered several scales, needles and baggies commonly used to package narcotics. Investigators then allegedly found Methamphetamine inside a padlocked closet at the back of the bedroom along with more than $2,000 in US Currency. The stack of cash included several pieces of paper currency that had been marked by the sheriff’s investigators through undercover drug purchases.

Investigators arrived just before 11 o’clock on Friday morning at this home on the far west end of La Follette.

Byrge is facing charges of the manufacture, delivery and sell of illegal drugs as well as felony possession. He is due in court on Thursday morning.  Byrge remains housed in the Campbell County Jail this morning without bond. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 05/17/2022-6AM)
