The Rainbow Restaurant, one of the area’s most popular eateries, sits across the four lane from La Follette Monuments.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The Rainbow Restaurant has been closed this week to give its employees a little time off and was scheduled to reopen Friday. However, in the mean time, the buffet caught fire Monday night. That said, the scheduled reopening will go on like planned. “We’ll be back to our regular 4am until noon hours, seven days a week starting Friday morning,” said owner Travis Wallen.

Wallen explains that there’s no damage to the building though the buffet will need to be replaced. He’s assessing everything today and will have the restaurant in order come Friday.

Someone driving by the Rainbow Family Restaurant around 9:30 Monday night noticed smoke coming from the building and saw flames inside according to Assistant La Follette Fire Chief Eddie Hatmaker.

That person called 911 and the LFD “C” Shift was on the scene within minutes. Hatmaker describes the building as having minor fire and water damage. There were no injuries.

La Follette Fire Fighters assess the damage at the Rainbow Family Restaurant.

La Follette Police and the Campbell County EMS assisted.

Firefighters were forced to break the glass front door to gain entry Monday night.
