LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – If you were in La Follette, Jacksboro, Caryville or up the valley on Saturday, you likely saw or heard helicopters. These just weren’t any helicopters. These units were military choppers here to play a vital role in celebrating and honoring local legend General Carl W. Stiner.

Saturday noonish, the missing man formation group made several practice flights to make sure they had the mission down correctly. At least five practice runs were made. They flew a loop from the Tommy C. Stiner Airfield to General Carl Stiner’s final resting place at Powell Valley Cemetery, flying the route they would use Saturday afternoon for the live event.
