Alma Maxine Marcum Gibson, age 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 20, 2022. Maxine was born and raised in Pioneer, and was a long-time resident of Caryville. She attended Caryville First Baptist Church and loved going to Church, singing in the choir, and talking with friends and family.

She was preceded in death by first husband, Ralph Marcum, husband Burgin Gibson, parents Dewey and Sinda Rector, brothers Harold and Gordon Rector, sisters Mildred McGhee, Pauline Wright, and one infant sister.

She is survived by her children, Gary Marcum (Carolyn) and Kay Marcum Branam (Johnny) of Jacksboro; stepchildren, Gary Gibson (Karla) of Ohio, and Diane Gibson Crisp (Rick) of Caryville; sister, Barbara Stepp of New Market; 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren; special friend, Shirley Clotfelter, along with nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the many staff members of Tennova-LaFollette Health and Rehab Center for their kindness, compassionate care, and assistance given to Maxine and her family.

The family will receive friends at Cross-Smith Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, June 23, 2022, with the funeral service following, Rev. Gary Parker officiating.

The family will gather at Cross-Smith Funeral Home at 10 AM on Friday, June 24 and proceed to the Meredith Cemetery in Stinking Creek for 11 AM Interment.

Mask may be worn at your discretion.

In lieu of flowers family requests that donations be made to the Pat Summit Foundation for the research for a cure for Alzheimer’s.
