LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Seeing a Campbell County Sheriff’s cruiser or a La Follette police car or a state trooper’s unit passing through a church parking lot on Sunday morning was common place. Caryville and Jacksboro police cruisers also had a presence.

On the heels of several churches receiving strange letters on their doors since Thursday, June 16, there was reason for concern. Sheriff Robbie Goins headed up a town hall meeting last Thursday evening to answer questions and address security concerns. The investigation continues in a joint effort by the Sheriff’s Office, the FBI and the THP.

A sheriff’s cruiser was passing through the parking lot of the Middlesboro Highway Church of God with the deputy stopping to speak to church members as WLAF News was on hand. All appeared peaceful as WLAF News visited a few churches on Sunday morning. Some pastors mentioned the event from the pulpit.

There were no reports of any incidents. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/27/2022-6AM)
