LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Shayne Wilburn responded to a call on last Thursday morning at 1508 Old Middlesboro Hwy where it was alleged that Michael Roger Cote had been doing donuts in his Ford F-150 and crashed into a storage unit. It was around 3am when Wilburn was joined by Sgt. Josh Jeffers and auxiliary officer Andy Ray at the scene and spoke with Cote.

Cote allegedly told the deputies that he was showing off a little bit when he lost control wrecking into the storage unit, according to a report from the sheriff’s office. The storage units are next to apartments at the intersection of Old Middlesboro Highway and Bethlehem Road.

However, Cote changed his story stating that he knew his brakes were messed up, but he was going to try to make it to town. It was reported that Cote then drove over to 1506 Old Middlesboro Hwy walked inside and never called or reported the wreck, according to the report. Some of the neighbors who witnessed Cote doing donuts called in the mishap.

Cote, 47, 320 Countryside Circle, LaFollette was charged with reckless endangerment, leaving scene of an accident, failure to report accident, other and vandalism over $1,000. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/14/2022-6AM)
