LAFOLLETTE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – Don’t be alarmed come late this morning when La Follette Medical Center-Tennova Healthcare stages an emergency response training exercise. It is only a drill.

WHEN:           10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 24

Tennova Healthcare will stage an emergency response training EXERCISE on August 24 that will involve numerous emergency units responding to the scene and participating that may include the La Follette Police Department, La Follette Fire Department, Campbell County Emergency Management Agency, La Follette 911 Center, Medic Regional Blood Center, Regional Medical Communications Center, and Emergency Medical Services.

It is anticipated that media outlets may receive calls from community members noting increased activity or unexpected sounds, such as police and first responder traffic. We appreciate your assistance in conveying the fact that THIS ACTIVITY IS ONLY A DRILL.

This realistic emergency response training EXERCISE is being coordinated by Tennova Healthcare and will involve the health system’s La Follette Medical Center. In addition to the Emergency Department, other hospital departments will also participate in the DRILL including the Health and Rehab Center, Admitting/Registration, Engineering, Environmental Services, Imaging/Radiology, Inpatient Units, Rural Health Clinics, and Laboratory Services.

Emergency preparedness is a top priority for Tennova Healthcare. At least two DRILLS are held at each facility every year. Each hospital has a detailed emergency response plan, developed by crisis management experts to help medical teams prepare for mass casualty and other emergency events.
