JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Under new leadership, the Lady Cougar Soccer Squad are set to start the 2022 season.  The team has practiced throughout the summer under new head coach, Jason Austin.  Austin has previous coaching experience as he has coached many Campbell County Youth Soccer teams and was the head coach for Campbell County United for two years, and served as the assistant coach for two years under former head coach Bryan Horton. Matt Schroeder is a returning coach, with the title of Varsity Coach this season; previously he was the goalie coach under Horton’s tenure.  Newcomer, Mohammad Bari holds a deep knowledge of the game and rounds out Austin’s staff as the skills/conditioning consultant. 

Lady Cougar Soccer plays in a weekend jamboree on Saturday at Middlesboro High School.

“The girls have found their fun again,” Austin says. “We have gotten a 110% buy in from our girls, and we could not be happier with the buy in or more proud.”

Austin goes on to say, “The girls are genuinely excited about our system and the direction of their program.  They are putting in all the necessary work to make this program theirs.”

The team travels to Middlesboro High School Saturday, August 6 to participate in the Cumberland Gap Jamboree, followed by the Scott County play day on August 13.  Campbell County ventures to Gatlinburg for the Smokey Mountain Cup August 18-20. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/04/2022-6AM)
