NASHVILLE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – On Sat., Aug. 20, State Rep. Dennis Powers was awarded Legislator of the Year by the Tennessee Conservative News in Nashville because of his conservative voting record and legislation sponsored in the Legislature.

Powers had introduced legislation in the House of Representatives this year to combat illegal immigration and social media censorship.  Powers gave a 45-minute PowerPoint presentation on the two subjects which included a Q & A at the end.  Both of his bills passed all of the House Committees, but the social media bill was killed in the Senate and the immigration bill was not funded.

Powers was honored Saturday night.
