Charles Edward Johnson, age 66, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 29, 2022 at his home in Jacksboro, TN.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, working with his hands, fishing and hunting. He was of the Christian faith and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. When he was not at church or spending time with family, he always had a project underway. 

Charles is preceded in death by his father R.M. Johnson; mother Frankie Coleen Johnson; and brothers Francis and Michael Lee Johnson; and two infant sisters Nancy and Nellie Johnson.

He is survived by his loving wife Leslie Suttle Johnson; son Damon Johnson and wife Gillian; daughter Hilary Smith and husband Stephen; step-daughter Nowelle Miller and husband Robert all of Jacksboro; grandchildren Leah Miller, Grayson Smith, and Harper and Callum Johnson; sisters Elizabeth Ayers, Cordelia Powers Johnson, Wilma Swafford and Tommy all from Jacksboro, Geraldine Byrd and Robert, and Rose Blevins all from LaFollette,; brothers Raymond Johnson and Cathy, Monroe Johnson and Sheila, Larry Johnson and Missy all from Jacksboro, R.L. Johnson and Sharon from LaFollette; and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 PM with Rev. J.T. Asbury officiating. Family and friends will meet on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 9:00 AM to go in funeral procession to Baker’s Forge Cemetery for an 10:00 AM interment.
