JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – A small plane crashed at 12:50pm Monday apparently trying to land at the Campbell County Airport/Colonel Tommy C. Stiner Airfield. According to officials, the life of Jimmy Cole was lost in the crash.

First Responders with Lifestar, stationed at the airport, were on scene within a handful of minutes.

La Follette Police Officer Aaron Adkins was among the responding officers.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are investigating.

The crash site is in a field about 100 yards south of the runway.

Aside from the Lifestar crew, the Campbell County EMS, EMA, Rural Fire Service and Sheriff’s Office responded. Officers with the La Follette Police Department including Chief Bill Roehl answered the call. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/30/2022-6AM)
