Lonny Lee Lambdin, age 83, of the Lot-Mud Creek Community of Whitley County, Kentucky, passed away Friday evening, September 2, 2022, at his home.

He was born on July 16, 1939, to the late Elmer Lambdin and Edna (Fuson) Lambdin in Dandridge, TN.  He was the grandson of the late Craig Lambdin and Rachel (Hamblin) Lambdin.

Lonny was a graduate of Poplar Creek High School – Class of 1958.  He proudly served our country in the United States Army where he began training to be an embalmer.  After his service in the military, he graduated from Mid America Mortuary School in Louisville, KY.

Lonny became a Tennessee and Kentucky Licensed Embalmer who worked for many years at Cox & Son Funeral Home in Jellico.  He also worked at other funeral homes in the Campbell County and Whitley County area.

Lonny was also a longtime member of Williamsburg Masonic Lodge # 490F.&A.M., a 32-Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a Shriner.

In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Lambdin and Bill Lambdin; step-son, Mike Buckner;brother-in-law, Jimmy Dople; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Francis Dople, Sr. and Jessie (Bruce) Dople Hicks.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Wanda (Dople) Lambdin, of the Lot-Mud Creek Community; son, Bradley Lambdin, and wife, Dusty, and daughter, Stacy Damron, and husband, Rick, all of Williamsburg, KY;grandchildren, Macy Damron, Drew Damron, Luke Lambdin, and Braden Lambdin,all of Williamsburg, KY, Robert “Spanky” Bridges, of the Lot-Mud Community,Isaac McGhee, of Newcomb, TN, Dalton Lawson, and wife, Rae, of Powell Valley, TN, and Shae Buckner, of Williamsburg, KY; two brothers, James Lambdin, and wife, Lovella, of Louisville, KY, and Wilburn Lambdin, and wife, Louise, of Norwood, Ohio; five sisters, Jewell Shelton, of Detroit,Michigan, JoAnn Lambdin, of Dayton, Ohio, Nola Prichard, of Georgia, Sue Walker, of Berea, KY, and Shirley Abner, of Georgia; and step-daughter,Shannon Fuller, of Jellico, TN.

Lonny is also survived by five sisters-in-law, Evie Brewer, Freda Thomas Johnson, Joyce McGhee, and husband, Dennis, Faye Chambers, and husband, Pete, and Sheila Irwin, and husband, Marshall; brother-in-law, Rev. Francis Dople, Jr., and wife, “Peachie;” special friend, Luther Ball; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends, neighbors, and other relatives to mourn his passing.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday morning,September 6, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Cox & Son Funeral Home Chapel.

The funeral will immediately follow on Tuesday afternoon, September 6,2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Cox & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Francis“Junior” Dople officiating.

Special singing will be provided by Mrs. Charlotte “Peachie” Dople.

Military Graveside Honors will be presented by the Jellico Honor Guard.

Interment will follow in the Doll Lawson Cemetery located in Fairview Community of Whitley County, KY.
