Sylvia J. Hammons, age 69 of Jacksboro, departed this life on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at UT Medical Center. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, that enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Sylvia also loved being outdoors working and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. 

She is preceded in death by her parents Donny Ray Sharp and Dorothy (Smith) Sharp; and husbands Elmer Hammons and the father of her children David Norman.

She is survived by her son Bobby Norman and wife Susan of Huntsville; daughter Karyn Rucker of Jacksboro; brother Donny Sharp of Toledo, OH; sister Evelyn Yates and husband Tom of Lewes, Delaware; grandchildren Andrew and wife Cheltsey, Hannah Norman, Kristin Rucker, Gavin Rucker, and Alyssa Guy and husband Skylar; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be on Monday, October 10, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 PM in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. J.T. Asbury officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 AM on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Martin Wilson Funeral Home to go in funeral procession to Indian Creek Cemetery for an 11:00 AM interment.
