CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – At last month’s Town of Caryville Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting, the board voted to hire a new police chief. Last night the board voted to advertise for the assistant police chief position. Current Assistant Police Chief Mikey Owens has resigned from the position.

A new fire truck is on the horizon for the Caryville Fire Department in the next 12-18 months. The town currently has enough money in the fire protection fees fund to pay $131,189 for the chassis of the truck. Mayor Bobby Stooksbury reported that the town might possibly only have to finance $300,000 of the remaining balance for the truck. Given the length of time it will take to get the truck, the town will acquire more fire protection fees to pay towards the truck before borrowing money. The board voted to seek pre-approval for the loan and try to lock in the 4.59% interest rate.

The annual Trunk or Treat for the Town of Caryville will be held on Monday night, Oct. 31 from 6-8 pm at the Caryville Ball Field.

Resolution No. 2022-08 allowing the town to apply for a Property Conservation Grant with a 50-50 match was approved. Last year the town received $750 from the same grant. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/11/2022-6AM)
