LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Teachers make a difference in their students lives each and every day. For many students, having a teacher who cares and goes that extra mile can be the difference in a successful education and graduation. We’ve all had that teacher who inspired us or helped in some way. That’s why WLAF and Eagle Tire Pros salute all of our hard working educators with a weekly feature.

This week’s featured teacher is Cassie Kohlmeyer from LaFollette. She teaches at LaFollette Elementary School and has taught kindergarten at LES for 3 years.

According to Kohlmeyer, it was “amazing teachers” she had as a child that encouraged and inspired her to follow her own career path in education.

Cassie Kohlmeyer is Eagle Tire Pros teacher of the week. She teaches at LaFollette Elementary School.

“I went to East LaFollette Elementary and moved to LaFollette Elementary School the year the school opened!” Kohlmeyer said.

Her favorite part teaching is seeing kindergarteners learn to read.

“Above all else, I’m just so thankful to have the ability to teach others to read. I strive every day to make all my students feel loved, safe, and capable of whatever they dream! On difficult days, my coworkers help to lift me up and keep going!”

Kohlmeyer will be presenting at this year’s Literacy Association of Tennessee Annual Conference in December.  She is a graduate student at Tennessee Technological University pursuing a Master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with a concentration in literacy.

Every Thursday, WLAF’s Charlotte Underwood features the WLAF – Eagle Tire Pros teacher of the week. That educator also receives a free oil change from Eagle Tire Pros.
