JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – If you received a car tag renewal notice in the mail for November, and it doesn’t look just right, don’t be alarmed. You’re not by yourself. More than 20,000 drivers over several counties are dealing with the issue. “There’s been a mix-up at the state level, and some folks may get a renewal with incorrect information or they may not get one at all,” said County Clerk Todd Nance.

Nance says it’s a simple fix. All you need to do is stop by one of the clerk’s offices in Jacksboro, Jellico or La Follette and have your car tag number. If you’re not sure if your tag is up for renewal, Nance encourages you to check your car tag in the next day or two.

“The Department of General Services made a printing error on 22,000 renewal notices across the state of Tennessee. They are reprinting and sending out correct ones this week. If you have received an incorrect notice, disregard it or bring it in to one of our three locations. You may renew your tag without a notice if you have your tag number, and we can renew you for November. I thank you, and am sorry for the inconvenience,” said Nance.

The Campbell County Clerk’s office is open Monday through Friday from 8am until 4:30pm, closing half a day on Wednesday at Jellico. The offices are open on Saturdays from 8am until 11:30am.
