JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – In October, there was an exodus of Jacksboro Police officers including the chief. The Town of Jacksboro Police Department is now fully staffed. Thursday night the Jacksboro Board of Mayor and Aldermen hired three additional officers to complete the force.

The board voted to hire Savannah Tielman at $16.50/hr effective Oct. 25, Carl Mozingo at $16.50/hr effective Oct. 31 and Shyla Riggs at $12/hr. Police Chief Daniel Smith explained the difference in hourly wages to the board. Smith stated that Riggs was currently attending the police academy and would be fully trained by January. Smith then requested a .70 cent an hour raise for all officers excluding himself, explaining the raise would bring wages in line with other surrounding agencies.

A $1,700 expenditure was approved for the fire department to have air packs tested and repair fire hoses.

In final business of the evening, Christmas bonuses for employees were approved. Employees will receive $300 plus $25 for each year they have been with the town. New employees will receive $150. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/04/2022-6AM)
