JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The brooms were active at Brown Gym on Tuesday night as the Campbell Cougars and Lady Cougars swept visiting Claiborne in all three games; JV girls, varsity girls and boys games. Watch the Campbell varsity games HERE on demand from WLAF.

The Lady Cougars claimed victory in the first game. The junior varsity won a close 42-34 game over Claiborne while the Lady Cougar varsity team defeated the Lady Bulldogs 57-41.

Jason Kitts Varsity Lady Cougars broke open a 14-14 game after the first quarter, built an 11 point advantage at the half and never looked back.

Campbell’s high point of the night was taking the score from 26-20 just before halftime and scoring the next 12 points from the second quarter into the third quarter. The lead did not stray too far from that difference the rest of the night.

Sophomore Saylor Hutcheson’s 18 points was tops for the Lady Cougars with Carley Kitts adding 13 followed by 11 from Lacey Pemberton. Emma Brandenburg was saddled with fouls much of the night but dominated up front with eight points and more than her share of rebounds.

Destiny Rutherford tallied a three. Bella Lester chipped in a couple of points as did Lexi Morris. Reagan Stanfill and Reagan Davis played and did not score.

The score by quarters goes 14-14 in the first, 17-6 Campbell in the second making the halftime score 31-20. The Lady Cougars won the third quarter 11-8 adding up the score to 42-28 after three. It was a tight fourth quarter with Campbell posting 15 markers to Claiborne’s 13.

Campbell rang up its first win in the season opener and will travel to face the Lady Red Devils at Halls on Friday night.
