Roy Edward Hunter, age 81 of Speedwell, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. He was born on April 24, 1941 to the late William B. Hunter and Eva Blanche (Farley) Hunter. Roy was a retired Coal Miner and a Veteran in the United States Air Force.  He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, sports especially softball and bowling, he was an avid Cincinnati’s Red’s fan, and he loved helping others. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife Geneva Hunter; daughter Juanita Hunter and Ava Gail Hunter; grandson Timothy Wayne Hensley; brothers James Hunter; sisters Betty Otten, Ida Jo, Willa Mae, Beulah Staton, and Norma Sarten.

He is survived by his loving wife Gail Hunter of Speedwell; sons William Eddie Hunter and wife Missy of Sidney, Kentucky and Kristopher Tipton and wife Kristie of Jacksboro; daughters Eva Tate and husband Mike of Murfreesboro, Carolyn Hatfield and Jerome Pinson of West Virginia, and Vicky Hensley and husband Alfred of West Virginia; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

A visitation for Roy will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022 at Martin Wilson Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 PM with Military Honors to follow at 7:00 PM given by the Campbell County Honor Guard. A celebration of life will follow the military honors.
