SUNBRIGHT, TN (WLAF) – The Lady Cougars of Campbell County, one shot away from being 3 & 0, returned to the win column on Monday night at Sunbright by winning over the Lady Tigers 67-38. Watch the game and all the highlights HERE on demand from WLAF.

Coach Jason Kitts liked the way his team ran the floor and shared the ball. After Carley Kitts opened the game with an old fashioned three point play and a two putting Campbell ahead 5-0, it was a back and forth game until the Lady Cougars tied the game at 11 with 3:21 to play on a Lacey Pemberton jumper.

Campbell, trailing 11-9, scored the next 16 points, and the game was never the same. A halftime score of 42-26 was in favor of the Lady Cougars. Campbell built its lead to 28 at the end of the third quarter, 59-31, and then pushed the lead out to 32 in the closing moments at 65-33.

Four Lady Cougars tallied double figures; Pemberton 12, 10 each from Lester, Hutcheson and Morris. Emma Brandenburg chalked up eight points while Aleah Woodson, seeing her first varsity action of the season, knocked down two threes finishing with seven points as did Carley Kitts. Reagan Stanfill posted a big three. Reagan Davis and Destiny Rutherford played and did not score.

The Lady Cougars are 2 & 1 heading to Oneida on Monday. It’ll be right back to action on Tuesday at Hardin Valley Academy.
