Firefighters were able to keep the fire from crossing the road.

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – An oil well on Caryville Mountain is safe this morning thanks to the quick action of firefighters from the Caryville Volunteer Fire Department, Campbell County Rural Fire Service and the State of Tennessee Division of Forestry.

The call of the fire came in to Central Dispatch Thursday night at 9:11 of the fire threatening the oil well.

Some units cleared the scene Friday morning at 1:00 while other units and crews stayed on.

Firefighters fought the blaze keeping it from crossing the road and getting close to the oil well. Units will the CVFD and CCRFS cleared the scene at 1am. Forestry firefighters stayed on to make sure the fire did not cross any of the fire lines the crews put in.
