Alma (Ward) Byrd, age 89 of LaFollette, went home to be with the Lord on November 30, 2022 at Turkey Creek Medical Center. She was born on November 8, 1933 to the late Mike D. Ward and Gertie (Overton) Ward.  Alma was a member of High Street Baptist Church where she played the piano for over 50 years. She also enjoyed walking, shopping, gardening, cooking, sewing, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her precious family and going to church. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Rev. O.P. Byrd; granddaughter Shannon Byrd; great grandchildren Aiden Bolinger and Kristin Leigh Ballenger; brothers John L. Ward, Junior Ward, Billy Ward, R.L. Ward; and sisters Thelma Brown and Betty Allen.

She is survived by her sons Roger Byrd and wife Vickie of Jacksboro and Rev. Dwane Byrd and wife Theresa of Speedwell; daughters Beverly Capps and husband Carl of LaFollette, Teresa Burton and husband Robert of Jacksboro, and Linda Robbins and husband Paul of Knoxville; brothers Luther Ward and wife Pat of Jacksboro and Fred Ward and wife Rita of Crossville; sister Lois Gibson and husband Kenneth of Jacksboro; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. 

A visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, December 2, 2022 in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Dwane Byrd. Family and friends will meet at 9:15 AM on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Martin Wilson Funeral Home to go in funeral procession to Campbell Memorial Gardens for an 10:00 AM interment.
