Wind chills remain well below zero through, at least, Christmas night.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Whether the wind chill index or feels like temperature is 25 below zero or 10 below, it’s still life threatening cold. These unprecedented conditions persist through the Christmas weekend. The bottom line is if you don’t need to get out, stay put and stay warm.

Spotty power outages began happening around Campbell County at midnight Thursday. According to LUB, downed trees are causing most of the outages.

LUB tripled its number of on-call crews to handle power outages, and they had worked more than 335 outages by 3am, according to the LUB outage map.

The Campbell County Highway Department has a crew specifically dedicated to clearing trees from roads. “Downed trees have been the biggest problem,” said CCHD Superintendent Ron Dilbeck. Dilbeck and his staff have been out since 1am Friday. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/23/2022-6AM)
