LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A La Follette man is facing multiple charges following a Monday morning wreck on the four lane at the West Central Avenue-Highway 25W split. Near the West End Amoco a 2012 silver Ford FL10 and a 2006 gray Honda Odyssey collided in the turning lane at 8:13am.

Bobby Gene Medley was driving the Ford while 31 year old Michelle Evans of La Follette was behind the wheel of the Honda van. La Follette Police Officer Anthony Mahar said Evans was headed west toward Jacksboro, and Medley was driving east into La Follette crossing the center line and traveling into the wrong lane of travel.

Traffic was forced down to one lane in each direction for a while on Monday as officers worked this accident.

Evans said she pulled into the turn lane trying to miss Medley and as soon as she did, Medley turned back into the turn lane from the wrong lane of travel striking Evans van. Evans was transported to the La Follette Medical Center by Campbell County EMS.

Mahar said Medley allegedly told him a front spare tire caused the car to swerve into the center lane. Police could not find a spare tire on the any of the wheels, according to the report. Medley was unable to explain where he was going or what he was doing, according to Mahar. The officer described Medley as unsteady on his feet and then had Medley perform a field sobriety test on which he performed poorly, based on the report.

Officers spent time with Bobby Medley, blue jean jacket. Another officer talked with Michelle Evans at the driver’s side of her van.

Medley, 73, Glade Springs Road, La Follette was taken into custody and charged with DUI (driving under the influence), failure to exercise due care and violation of the lane law.

A $3,000 secure bond was set for Medley. He remains housed in the Campbell County Jail this morning. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/06/2022-6AM)
