JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Scott has had its fill of Cougars for this week. The Highlanders fell Monday night at Kodak to the Northview Cougars, and Tuesday night, they had to deal with the Campbell Cougars on Brown Court. This last bunch of Cougars was on a mission to erase bad thoughts of the way Monday’s game ended at Carter in a close loss.

“We started flat, and we tend to do that at home,” said Campbell Coach Ernie Mac Clawson. Scott scored 9 of the first 12 points. From when the Highlanders built their largest lead of six at 9 to 3, Campbell proceeded to outscore Scott 58 to 28 the rest of the way.

Adama Sanogo entered the game in a reserve role and sparked Campbell with instant offense posting nine points while Devon Jones lit the scoreboard with 14. The duo accounted for 23 of the Cougars 27 first half points. David Adkins and Gavin Cox had the other four, two each.

The Cougars caught Scott at 12 after scoring nine straight points. The game had one tie at 12 and one lead change at 14-12 when Campbell went ahead for the first time, and it never relinquished the lead.

John Long came alive in the second half with 13 points after a scoreless first half as Jones put up nine more points after halftime. Long was dominate up front with touch shots and put backs to keep Scott at bay the final two quarters. Jones finished with 23 points to lead all scorers coming on four treys and 9 of 11 shooting at the free stripe.

Adkins finished with nine including a long three pointer as Will Lester dropped in four points on driving lay ups and Cox added two.

Campbell improves to 5 & 5 stopping a five game losing streak and readies to host Hardin Valley Academy on Friday in a rematch of a Campbell loss at HVA last month. WLAF will have the live coverage. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/14/2022-6AM)
