LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The Davis Chapel mailbox bandit struck again Friday Night, according to officials with the La Follette Post Office.  This time the bandit extended his thefts into the Long Hollow Road area from Camp Ridge Road.

The trend continues with the mailbox lids being left open after mail and parcels are taken.

Mail carriers are making rounds earlier and later than usual as a result of the very high volume of parcels during the Christmas season. Those expecting a package or letter are encouraged to check mailboxes and porch every evening and communicate with family, friends and neighbors to keep watch during late night and early morning hours.

Thefts are not limited to USPS deliveries.  There are also reports of porch pirates nabbing packages delivered by other services such as UPS and FedEx.

Officials with the postal service urge people to call law enforcement if they see any suspicious vehicles traveling in neighborhoods or activity at unusual hours.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/19/2022-6AM)
