LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – This is a picture of a night time Lafollette Christmas parade after the Lafollette Fire Department obtained their new 1964 American Lafrance fire truck.

This is how Santa made his debut back then, riding on the fire truck. Parades in those days started at Lyon’s Trading Center and rolled down Central Avenue and usually turned onto First street and went to Mill Street and turned back toward North Tennessee Avenue.

As this picture shows, the parade was traveling on North Tennessee Avenue in front of Summer’s Shoes and the Lafollette Art Studio headed back to Central Ave. Once back to Central, it would cross over Central and travel behind city hall where it would disband. I’m not sure. But it looks like LFD Chief Ottney Wilson with his white Fire Chief’s hat is Santa’s wing man.
