LAFOLLETTE, (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton will be the guest speaker at the South Campbell County Rotary Club noon, today at the LaFollette Methodist Church.  He is the guest of State Rep. Dennis Powers. Powers and Sexton were both elected to the Tennessee House of Representatives in 2010.

Sexton became Speaker in 2019, was re-elected in 2021 and again earlier this month.  He is from Oak Ridge, born in Lake City and now lives in Crossville with his wife Lacey and three children. He is a graduate of Oak Ridge High School and the University of Tennessee with a degree in Public Administration.

Before being elected Speaker by his peers, Sexton served as Republican Caucus Chairman. A former Republican Whip and House Health Committee Chairman, Sexton has prioritized conservative, patient-centered health solutions that increase accessibility, improving health care quality, and lower overall costs. Sexton has fought to implement historic tax cuts, has been instrumental in the record-breaking improvements within the state’s public education system, and has made Tennessee a national leader in violent crime prevention through solutions like truth in sentencing.

He and his wife are members of Central Baptist Church where Sexton is active in the church’s youth programs.  He is employed by One Bank of Tennessee where he works in business development and also serves on the bank’s board of directors.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 01/17/2023-6AM)
