LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Keeping the 5,165 students in the county fed is no easy task.  Just ask any of the cafeteria staff at Campbell County Schools. That’s why WLAF is recognizing cafeteria staff throughout the county’s school district.  There are about 75 cafeteria staff members for the 12 schools in the district.

This week WLAF is honoring Valley View Elementary School’s cafeteria staff!

Valley View Elementary Principal Jason Dotson said the school’s cafeteria workers “set the tone for our students each and every day with their positive attitude.”

“We value our cafeteria staff, and I strongly feel that their efforts provide our kids with healthy nutrition that is necessary to be successful in the classroom,” Dotson said.

“The cafeteria staff’s main priority is the kids, and it shows. They go to work every day with minds and hearts to feed the kids,” said Nutrition Director for Campbell County Schools Jamie Gillum.

Even during COVID when schools were shut down, cafeteria workers still made meals to hand out to make sure the children of the county were fed.

“These workers make sure the kids leave with a smile and a full belly. Their goal is to love and feed these students. Kids remember who feed them and those who are good to them. Our cafeteria staff in Campbell County schools goes above and beyond, and they deserve this recognition,” Gillum said. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/01/2023-6AM)
