LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The flower beds on the south side of Central Avenue have been removed.  Work to take out the beds on the north side of the street began Monday morning.

Members of La Follette Public Works started on the other side of Central removing the flower beds beginning with the one at Central and Indiana in front of the Red Roof Market.  The crew was able to remove both of the beds at that intersection Monday. “Looks like we’ve got three good weather days ahead of us, and we hope to remove all of them this week,” said LPW Director Casey Boshears. 1. And why are the flower beds being removed? It cost money to put them in, which wasn’t that long long ago, and supply each one with dirt , various plants, and trees; now more money is being spent to take them out.

  2. I have grown weary of attempts to beautify LaFollette by adding trees, shrubs and flowers. Over and over citizens have paid to have greenery added to offset the concrete and stark aging buildings only to see them neglected or destroyed. And vandals constantly steal, deface property and little effort is made to curtail it. I no longer care whether the town has landscaping or anything that suggests the inhabitants have pride.
