CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – Teachers make a difference in their students lives each and every day. For many students, having a teacher who cares and goes that extra mile can be the difference in a successful education and graduation. We’ve all had that teacher who inspired us or helped in some way. That’s why WLAF and Eagle Tire Pros salute all of our hard working educators with a weekly feature.

This week’s featured educator is Tracy Sammons. She is the Caryville Elementary School’s Librarian.

Tracy Sammons has been an elementary school librarian for 25 years and has been married to her “best friend for 23 years.”

Sammons is a Campbell County native who graduated from Campbell County High School and earned a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee.

She has been an elementary school librarian for 25 years and has been married to her “best friend for 23 years.”

“I have a stepdaughter, two sons, and a grandson. I enjoy spending my time with my family, camping, hiking, going to the beach, READING, and all things Disney,” Sammons said.

According to her, she had many influential teachers that inspired her career in education.

“Including my father, Don Marlow and Mrs. Jones, former Jacksboro Elementary librarian who read Judy Blume books to us,” Sammons said.

“Sharing great stories” is her favorite part of being a librarian.

“I love to see students make connections to stories and discover a love for reading. On hard days giggles, hugs, high fives, and smiles from my students keep me going,” Sammons said.

Every Thursday, WLAF’s Charlotte Underwood features the WLAF – Eagle Tire Pros teacher of the week. That educator also receives a free oil change from Eagle Tire Pros. To nominate a teacher for teacher of the week honors, please send your nomination to  wlaf@1450wlaf.com
