JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The Campbell County Budget and Finance committee met Monday afternoon, approving multiple budget amendments.

These included budget amendments to the school board’s general purpose school fund regarding Insurance funds of $9,236 due to flood and water damage.

Other amendments approved were to the solid waste sanitation fund.

According to Deputy Finance Director Richard Terry, a further decline in revenue at the sanitation department will be offset with unfilled positions in the department.

Due to a decrease in the sale of recycling items and several other factors, there is a revenue reduction of $32,500. To balance this amendment, funds from salaries from unfilled positions in the sanitation department were moved.

Other budget amendments included to the ambulance service fund for the relocation of radio communication equipment and the tower. The amendment in the amount of $60,000 will be half paid by the ambulance service and half by sheriff’s department.

Also approved in committee was an amendment to the general capital project fund for projects at the sanitation and solid waste department and paving at Lonas Young Park.

A total of $275,000 will be appropriated for additional improvements at the county’s convenience center, while $100,000 will be used to purchase additional solid waste equipment and $150,000 for for paving of the expanded parking lot area at Lonas Young Park.

The issuance of the $525,000 capital outlay note to undertake these projects was approved.

This is a three year capital outlay note.

Commissioner Rusty Orick addressed the issue of the commission’s mileage rate for travel (CORRECTION: This is the rate for anyone who travels for the county). Committee members  approved to set the mileage rate on a floating scale to reflect the same as the state.

All items will also have to be approved by the county commission during its next meeting. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/14/2023-6AM)
