JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The wind blew as usual atop Brown-Archer Field on Monday afternoon to go along with the added excitement of the first day of practice for Campbell Baseball. “We’re ready to get going,” said Coach Brian Miracle, now in his second season.

Baseball season gets here fast for high school teams like the Cougars, and it also goes fast. Miracle’s eight seniors are doing their best to take it all in as they’ll play 30 games in eight weeks beginning on March 2 at home with Claiborne.

“These seniors have really bought in to our system, and they’ve been a good example to others. Our off season went well, and we’ve implemented the weight room,” said Miracle, a former Cougar and Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldog.

Miracle is thrilled about his team as well as his assistant coaches, Mark Cain (outfield) and Derrick Lay (infield). Aside from being CEO of Tennova La Follette Medical Center, Cain brings years of baseball experience to his afternoon gig. The former Samford Bulldog is joined by Lay who played at Halls and Johnson University on the staff. Cain’s son, Tucker, was a Cougar standout a few seasons back.

“We’re very excited about the season,” said Miracle. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/14/2023-6AM-PHOTOS COURTESY OF ANDY ALOYSIUS)
