WASHBURN, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – It’s back-to-back for the Blue. The Jellico Blue Devils are back-to-back district champions.

On Tuesday night at Washburn High, Jellico’s boys basketball team won the District 2-A Championship with an exciting 56-53 win over Cosby.  The Devils erased a nine-point deficit in the fourth quarter to claim the crown and improve to 17 & 12. Jellico and Cosby have met three times this season, and Jellico has won two of those games.

Jellico’s Carson Bolton was named District Tournament MVP. Isaac McNealy, Dre Webb, John Zecchini and Hunter Baird were named to the All-Tournament team.

On Saturday night, Jellico’s Blue Devils host a quarterfinal Region 1-A game with the North Greene Huskies. Tip time is 7:00 o’clock at Lindsay Gym.

The Jellico Lady Blue Devils claimed third place in Monday’s District 2-A Tournament, also at Washburn. A trip to Greeneville awaits the Lady Devils when they visit the North Greene Lady Huskies on Friday at 7pm in the opening round of the Region 1-A Tournament.
