MARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – Scanning over the Lady Cougars basketball schedule you have to figure that Cumberland County and Oak Ridge, possibly Hardin Valley, were likely Campbell’s toughest opponents this season. Once Region 2-AAAA pairings were announced, you have to add Heritage to that list.

Non-stop hustle, depth and tradition quickly sums up Campbell’s next post season opponent, the Lady Mountaineers of Heritage. Both teams come in with impressive wins in their respective district tournaments. Heritage defeated Farragut on its home floor for the first time since 2009 while Campbell snapped a nine-game losing skid to Powell by defeating the Lady Panthers on their home court.

In its last 10 games, Heritage is 6 & 4, including a three-game losing streak. Campbell is also 6 & 4 over its last 10 games. Heritage was runner-up in its district tourney while Campbell placed third. In all games, Heritage is 24 & 6, Campbell 14 & 17.

Heritage and Campbell have six common opponents; Central, Cumberland County, Halls, Hardin Valley Academy, Karns and West. Heritage is 8 & 1 in those games with the only loss coming to Cumberland, 61-60, in the Heritage Christmas Tournament Championship. Campbell is 4 & 7 against those same opponents.

Campbell played in Heritage’s Christmas Tournament. However, Heritage and the Lady Cougars did not play each other.

The winner of tonight’s sudden death quarterfinal game moves on while the season ends for the team that comes up short.
