What makes a house a home is a common phrase we have allheard that invites introspection and reflection on what it is that transforms aphysical structure into an inviting place filled with warmth, love andcomfort.  Mary Lynn Ratcliff was that sense of “home” for so many of us.

Being around Mary Lynn, there was a sense of support, a quiet but unwavering strength, that brought comfort to so many lives.  Throughout her life, she supported her community, her friends and, most of all, her family.  Only those closest to Mary Lynn knew that this sense of support was, in truth, the reflection of a very tender heart.  She was compassionate, patient and understanding, and took the time to listen to others and offer comfort and support, making those around her feel at ease.

And so, while Mary Lynn Ratcliff left this world on February 26, 2023, at 90 years old, our memories of her will continue to have a positive impact on so many lives.  Because, like what makes a house a home, memories of Mary Lynn will always make you feel safe, loved, and at ease.

Born on August 25, 1932, Mary Lynn was the daughter of Floyd and Edna Methfessel.  She grew up in Hampton, Iowa, and attended Carson-Newman where she met her to be husband Terry.  Later she earned her degree at Lincoln Memorial University.

She is survived by children, Mark Ratcliff and Terry Lynn Hursey, grandchildren, Caroline Wesson, husband Greg Wesson and Annie Abraham, husband Paul Abraham and 6 great grandchildren. Her loss will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.
