CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – A Campbell County Sheriff’s Auxiliary Deputy came across a body on Friday morning during routine patrol in south Campbell County, according to reports coming in to WLAF. Campbell County Sheriff Wayne Barton confirms to WLAF this afternoon that the body is that of 43-year old Gilbert Lee Goodman of Rocky Top.

Just before 8am, the officer called in the discovery of the deceased male to Central Dispatch. Campbell County EMS was paged out to Highway 116 at the Cherry Bottom underpass.

The medical examiner determined Goodman’s cause of death was a cardiac event. An autopsy will not be performed. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 03/03/2023-4PM)
