LAFOLLETTE, TN. (WLAF)- The South Campbell County Rotary Club will be collecting school supplies and hygiene items for Jacksboro Middle School students as part of its youth focused community service project this year.
The club announced it would be collecting school supplies and hygiene supplies for the students at Jacksboro Middle School beginning this month. “We did this project last year for LaFollette Middle. They were very appreciative, and we would like to do the same this year for Jacksboro Middle,” Rotary Club President David Hickman said.
Supplies can be brought to the Rotary Club’s regular meetings on Tuesdays at noon at the United Methodist Church in LaFollette, or dropped off at Peoples Bank of the South, according to Hickman. “We will start collecting items now and will plan on delivering them to the school in early April. This is a great project to help our local students,” Hickman said.
During the month of April, Rotary also plans to participate in an “Empowering Girls Project” and will be teaching the personal management merit badge to Scouts BSA Troop 435, which is an all-female scout troop. This project will support one of Rotary’s initiatives of empowering women. The personal management merit badge is an “important one” and is a key badge to becoming an Eagle Scout, Hickman said. BSA Troop 435 is led by Troop Leader Liz White and the troop meets on Tuesdays at the LaFollette United Methodist Church at 7pm. The personal management merit badge class is tentatively set to begin the second Tuesday in April. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED 03/15/2023- 6AM)
