LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Best friends. Teenagers. Each involved in a tragic accident. One teen was behind the wheel of a car while the other was outside the car in the Big Lots parking lot, according to family members on the scene.

The teen in the car accidentally ran over the other youth, based on what one family member said. It happened about 7pm Tuesday.

This white car was involved in the accident, according to police.

Just before 8pm, the injured teen was airlifted by a medical helicopter heading to a Knoxville hospital. The driver, quite shaken, remained on the scene.

The injured teen was just loaded onto the med chopper and flown out from the Big Lots parking lot.
