LAFOLLETTE, TN. (WLAF)- On Friday at 11am (CORRECTION: 10am), a portion of Old Middlesboro Highway from Glade Springs Road to Bethlehem Road will be dedicated in honor of former county commissioner Whit Goins.

A sign will be placed to commemorate the road Goins traveled daily. The sign will be placed at the intersection of Knoxville Hollow Road and Old Middlesboro Highway. Parking will be available at the storage facility located at 151 Old Middlesboro Highway.

After half a century of serving Campbell County’s first district, Goins officially retired from running for office in 2022. Goins served six years on the Campbell County School Board and 44 years as a county commissioner before dying in October 2022.
