LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Even though La Follette Police Officer Anthony Mahar was off duty on Thursday morning, he still played a vital role in a double arrest, including that of a wanted La Follette man.

Mahar spotted Donald Lee England behind the wheel of a 2018 silver Dodge dually pick-up truck and notified LPD Dispatch. The off duty officer was aware England’s driver’s license was revoked, and he had an active warrant for his arrest. Mahar maintained contact as he traveled along the four lane until Officer Shane Tielman arrived..

Tielman made the traffic stop across the four lane from Campbell High in front of Smith’s Metal and Dock Sales. The patrolman noted they were within 500 feet of school property.

England told the officer he did not have a driver’s license, according to the police report. Upon confirmation of the active warrant, England was placed under arrest.

As England was searched, a blue rubber container in his left pants pocket was recovered. Based on the police report, the container allegedly held a crystal-like substance believed to be meth, weighing approximately one gram.

Police then turned their attention to England’s passenger, Tiphani Taylor, who allegedly told officers “there was a firearm in the truck or on Donald’s person.”

While searching the truck, officers allegedly came across a glass pipe with residue located beside the driver’s seat. A loaded Charter Arms .44 Special Revolver was found in the console. The gun came back as stolen out of Georgia, according to the report.

Donald Lee England, 29, 2142 Stinking Creek Road, La Follette, faces multiple charges including possession of a stolen firearm, drug free school zone, possession of meth along with possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony. See a full list of England’s charges HERE.

England made bond hours after his arrest and is due in court on April 18.

Tiphani Rashal Taylor, 29, 205 Linden Avenue, La Follette, was charged with possession of a stolen firearm and violation of bond conditions.

Taylor remains housed in the Campbell County Jail this morning without bond. Taylor is scheduled for a court on April 18. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/17/2023-6AM)
